CARFIT has developed a predictive maintenance solution leveraging AI to help car owners and fleets manage and optimize the maintenance costs of their vehicles. It is composed of a back-end on AWS and uses mobile apps ( iOS and Android) as front-end. The mobile apps include an iFrame using Webflow to allow dynamic interaction with the user.

We are looking for a front-end developer intern to modify and maintain iFrame pages, and to develop the front-end interface of several dashboard pages we support.

The role will evolve to include several projects that interface with multiple REST APIs. Some work with AWS S3 and AWS Cloudfront may also be required.

This will be an ongoing project with a few months of full-time activity followed by several months of part-time activity and the potential for a direct full-time role for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Implement changes to an iFrame using Webflow and HTML, CSS, JS
  • Develop or optimize user facing features
  • Integrate couponing and payment solutions
  • Translation of mock-ups into front-end code (Adobe Illustrator, Zeplin, CSS, HTML)
  • Build reusable code and libraries for future use
  • Version management with Git and Bitbucket
  • Integrate with a REST API
  • Limited exposure to AWS RDS and KX database
  • Implement changes on website built using WordPress
  • Define migration path from multiple websites to a single platform

Qualifications

  • At least three (3) years of post-secondary education in computer science, computer engineering, or a similar field
  • Experience with REST APIs
  • Exposure to AWS services
  • At one (1) year of front-end development
    – Experience writing Javascript for websites
    – Experience with WordPress
    – Experience with CSS
  • An understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and workarounds
  • Experience with tools such as GitLab and Bitbucket
  • Proficient in English and French

The most important trait of the front-end developer intern will be a high level of attention to detail and the ability to learn quickly.

It is composed of a back-end on AWS and uses mobile apps ( iOS and Android) connected to sensors as front-end. The mobile apps include an iFrame using Webflow to allow dynamic interaction with the user while the back-end is constructed on AWS and largely uses micro-services.

We are looking for a junior back-end developer to maintain our backend, to develop connections with new data sources, improve the documentation, and to make periodic improvements throughout the platform.

The role will evolve to include an ever-expanding set of responsibilities including managing new API gateways, new AWS tools, dashboards, and improvements of the interface with external platforms and services depending on the skillset of the applicant.

This will be an ongoing project with full-time activity for several months during the internship, followed by the opportunity for the right candidate to join the CARFIT team.

  • Coordinate with the front-end developers to integrate APIs
  • Improve the dashboard experiences with the aid of the front-end developers
  • Integrate and augment the back-end of the couponing and payment solutions
  • Build reusable code and libraries for future use
  • Version management with Git and Bitbucket
  • Implement new features via AWS Lambda using Python

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of post-secondary education in computer science, computer engineering, or a similar field.
  • Experience with AWS services including but no limited to:
    – AWS Lambda
    – AWS API Gateway
    – AWS RDS
    – AWS EC2
    – AWS Cloudfront
    – AWS S3
  • Ability to work with front-end resources to deploy new features exposed via APIs
  • Experience in writing Python for backend service implementations
  • Proficient understanding code versioning tools such as GitLab or Bitbucket
  • Proficient in English and French

You should be in your final year of post-secondary education and prepared to continue working with CARFIT following the conclusion of your education.

We are looking for a junior full stack developer to maintain our backend, to develop connections with new data sources, improve the documentation, make periodic improvements throughout the platform, modify and maintain iFrame pages, and to develop the front-end interface of several dashboard pages we support.

You will also participate in marketing efforts by adding gamification to the user experience.

The role will evolve to include an ever-expanding set of responsibilities including managing new API gateways, new AWS tools, dashboards, and improvements of the interface with external platforms and services.
